Community Halloween Event

Thank you to everyone who participated last night in our Halloween event! I counted over a dozen units that left out candy, had their door set up for ringing, set up tables, and/or were out and about. It was awesome to hold a community-building event at our complex!

I heard feedback from kids that it was a lot of fun, and from the adults who were outside chatting that it was nice to have an opportunity to meet some of the neighbors.

We know there weren’t a lot of kids going around (so thanks to those who had Costco-volumes of candy anyway!), but we are aware of a bunch of families with little ones growing up who will assuredly be happy to join the tradition going forward. I’d also like to encourage the adults to come out and take a little wander in the future as a few tables had special adult-only treats and there were a few families chatting in the driveway.

Going forward, we’re going to look at perhaps running a few more events around the year to come out and spend some time with your neighbors and have fun. Our general ideas included perhaps a summer potluck on the lawn, sledding on the mailbox hill when we get our annual snow, and perhaps a coalition of backyard gardeners who can meet a few times during the planting and growing season to share tips and help each other out. I’ve also considered perhaps bringing a bee hive onto our property and having know-the-bees events.

We might also try to increase the traffic in the future by cross-pollinating with our Marymoor Heights, Walnut Hills, or other Old Redmond Rd neighboring communities.

If you have any other ideas on how we can do more community building or anything else that you’d like to tell us, please feel free to let the board know or post it here on Facebook.

Thanks again! We hope you had a Happy Halloween!
